Catalog Program Title

Behavioral Sciences - Human Services

Degree Designation

Associate of Arts

Program Description

The Behavioral Sciences program is an academic transfer program designed to introduce students to the fields of Anthropology, Psychology, Social Work/Human Services, and Sociology. Offering certificates and degrees, the course of study within the program provides students with general education courses consistent with those required of freshmen and sophomores in four-year universities and introduces the various career fields within Anthropology, Psychology, Social Work/Human Services, and Sociology. Maximum transferability to a four-year degree program in Anthropology, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology can best be assured when students carefully coordinate their Associate of Arts degree work with the general education requirements of the four-year institution to which they plan to transfer. The Associate of Arts degrees are for students who are interested in pursuing a degree/career in the various areas of Behavioral Sciences while also maximizing transferability to a four-year university.

This particular degree, Associate of Arts in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services concentration is meant for students who are interested in pursuing further education in Human Services or Social Work. Previously referred to as a Human Services degree, this newly modified degree provides students with a broad understanding of various connected fields, such as sociology and psychology, while also providing the foundational courses needed to transfer to a social work/human services program for a Bachelor's.

This degree is part of the Transfer Pathways with ENMU-Portales. Please meet with an advisor to ensure that maximum transferability is achieved for all classes at ENMU-Roswell to ENMU-Portales.
